Chandler Macleod are seeking Senior Environmental Scientist Grade 9/10 for a 12 month contract. Pay rate $60-68 per hour plus super.

PWA is seeking an experienced environmental professional to work within the Environment and Planning team on an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a major infrastructure project in Western NSW. The role is responsible for writing, managing and delivering the EIS and obtaining other relevant State / Commonwealth approvals to meet the client's needs and agreed timeframes and budget. The position will be supported by other members of the Environment and Planning team however the successful contractor will ultimately be responsible for the day to day management and delivery of this project.

The expected deliverables are:

  • Preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement document, and obtaining other relevant State and Commonwealth approvals, for a major NSW Government infrastructure project located in Western NSW to ensure timely delivery of approvals
  • Engagement with relevant stakeholders including State Government agencies, Commonwealth approval bodies and other stakeholders as necessary
  • Liaison and management of specialist professionals currently engaged for the project and, where required, engagement and management of any additional specialist sub-consultants necessary to complete the EIS.

    The main project this contractor role will assist with is the delivery of the NSW Wild Dog Fence Extension Project. The successful contractor may also provide ad hoc assistance and support to the Environment and Planning Team as required throughout the contract period.

  • Degree in Environmental Science / Planning or equivalent with eligibility for member status to the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of Environmental Impact Statements within NSW.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the environmental impact assessment process and relevant NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation.
  • Experience in engaging and liaising with State and Commonwealth government stakeholders, with respect to EIS requirements and negotiating conditions of approval.
  • Experience managing specialist consultants in areas such as archaeology, heritage, ecology and biodiversity conservation and hydrogeology.
  • Experience in reviewing specialist environmental studies and environmental impact assessment reports prepared by others,
  • A valid NSW Driver's license and willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight stays.
  • Experience with South Australia approval process would be desirable.
