Our client, one of Australia's leading resources companies, is seeking to engage a site-based Environmental Advisor, located in WA's Pilbara region on an 2:1 swing. Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, you will assist in the development and implementation of the Environmental Strategic Plan, to ensure compliance with relevant environmental approval obligations, contractor disturbance and statutory reporting requirements.

The focus of this role will be to provide support to the construction and existing operations of the Pilbara Project, to fulfil legal obligations in the areas of environmental management, including audits and inspections, managing incidents, ground disturbance management and environmental monitoring required by the approvals and agreements under which we operate. Key accountabilities will include:

  • Environmental Approvals review (EPBC, Mining Proposals, NVCP, Works Approvals).
  • Compilation of Statutory Reporting (CAR, AER, EPBC, AACR, NVCP)
  • Auditing and Compliance management of Mining Proposals, Part IV/V approvals, associated Management Plans and the project Construction Environmental Management Plan
  • Environmental obligation compliance management and communication.
  • Review and support implementation of Environmental Management Plans.
  • Review contractor Environmental Plans (and Aspects and Impacts) as part of the contractor pre-qualification process.
  • Develop EMS for successful transition and handover to Operations.
  • Review, approve and audit Land Use Certificates (LUC).
  • Coach owners and contractor teams on environmental expectations.
  • Internal monthly compliance reporting
  • Contractor and sub-contractor management.
  • Lead environmental incident investigations

Skills & Qualifications?

  • Degree qualifications in Environmental Science, or similar discipline;
  • Minimum 6 years working in Construction, Processing, Mining operations or similar;
  • Experience in the use GIS mapping software and spatial data analysis (preferably ArcGIS);
  • Ability to lead and influence behaviours throughout all levels of the Project;
  • Management of Contractors
  • Ability to influence Behaviors throughout all levels of the project;
  • Ability to problem solve and assist with making practical decisions in a high stress environment;
  • Ability to manage your time well, prioritize works and structure work efficiently and effectively;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experienced in conflict resolution;
  • Advanced computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Viso, GIS);
