Chandler Macleod has a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Engineering team our client a highly reputable and well-known brand within the gold mining industry. This role provides support on Major Studies across both their NT & WA based gold mines.  The studies include Paste Plant and Crushing Circuit upgrades, Renewable Energy (RE), Life of Mine Development (tailings storage and disposal facility) and pit upgrades.

Key Accountabilities 
  • Provide project engineering leadership, support and direction for the major studies allocated by ensuring engineering designs are optimised in regard to standards compliance, safety, schedule, quality, and budget requirements from Gate 1 Concept to Gate 4 execution.
  • Monitor project engineering progress and facilitate technical meetings.
  • Provide and coordinate expert technical reviews (SLDs, data sheets, drawings, documents, calculations etc), guidance and advice, acting as governance stewards to control deliverables compliance and requirements.
  • Ensures compliance of relevant standards and specifications in consultation with the site representatives.
  • Ensures statutory compliance requirements of electrical supply and installation works in the state of WA and NT.
  • Resolution of technical queries and RFIs.
  • Undertaking technical evaluation for electrical equipment, power supply, distribution system and alike.
  • Monitor project progress, risks and compliance to schedule and cost within your area of responsibility.
  • Effective coordination of early study phases and detailed design, procurement support, material management to ensure project delivery in line with agreed execution plans.
  • Identifies project risks and ensure controls are implemented.
  • Technical documentation development including tender packs, SOWs, study reports and other Major Projects deliverables
     
Qualifications and skills required:

 
  • A relevant Electrical Engineering Degree recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • A proven background in a similar Engineering / Capital Works environment to include engineering and/or project engineering/management experience in large scale complex projects.
    • This includes technical documentation development and reviews, safety in design and risk management, project management systems, understanding of investment methodology and capital approval systems, QA/QC processes, engineering governance and specification development and/or reviews.
    • Ideally minimum of 7 years’ experience, however strong candidates with minimum of 5 years’ experience will be considered.
  • Experience in large scale, complex processing facilities or heavy industrial site electrical maintenance and operation and/or design and commissioning of greenfield/brownfield facilities.
  • Strong Communication, leadership, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to positively influence others.
  • Ability to facilitate multi discipline and cross functional teams.
  • Sound understanding and proven experience in developing and managing schedules.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Change Management processes.
  • Experienced with MS suite.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement of electrical plant reliability, efficiency, and costs.
  • Good report writing skills to complement study reports
  • Knowledge of applicable statutory regulations and standards prevailing in NT and WA.
  • The following is not essential but will be highly regarded:
    • Utility-scale solar generation, wind and/or battery experience
    • Engineering or consulting experience within the power generation industry
    • Experience in utility-scale design, construction, maintenance, engineering or management
    • Experience with grid connected generation in accordance with applicable Technical Rules.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing or working with EPC/EPCM/ECI consultants or contractors.
