We are currently recruiting for a Development Assessment Officer or Senior Development Assessment Officer for our client, a Local Council based in South Western Sydney. This is a contract role for approximately 6 months with possibility of extension and hourly rate is negotiable depending on experience. Candidates at all levels within Town Planning and Development Assessment with at least 3 years working experience and prior experience at a Local Council will be considered.

Please note that remote working is a possibility after an initial 2 week induction in the office.


Key Responsibilities

  • To undertake assessment of development applications in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • To assess development applications in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, and other relevant legislation.
  • Provide information and advice on Development Applications and Land Use Planning matters.
  • Assist the Development Assessment Team Leader to implement agreed continuous improvement to service delivery and projects
  • Prepare and give expert evidence in relation to matters before the Land and Environment Court of NSW



Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years experience within Development Assessment/Town Planning
  • Previous experience in a similar role within Local Government (does not have to be most recent position but needs to be within the last 3 years)
  • A sound working knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, Local Government Act and associated legislation
