Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Senior Data Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension 2x6 months.

About the Role:

Our Client is seeking an experienced data professional to work across multiple business and ICT projects, collaborating with internal, private, state and federal government entities. Proven ability to build and maintain business relationships, and practical experience in data and information management are critical in this role.

As a Senior Data Officer, you will be a key member of the Data Management Team (DMT) within the Data Services Section. The DMT supports through the design, development, and support of the enterprise data management framework (DMF) and data management improvement plans (DMIPs). DMIPs are used as a method to implement the DMF to improve the maturity of data management practices in business areas. The DMT also provides expert advice on relevant data management topics to the executive, business areas and projects.

Within the DMT you will work closely with and report to the Data Management Team Leader. You will mainly be responsible for the development and delivery of DMIPs in collaboration with the business and consistent with the DMF and associated documentation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Data Management Team Leader, your tasks will include (but are not limited to):

  • Engaging with diverse business stakeholders to understand their data and information throughout the data and information lifecycle and express these in formal data management improvement plans.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of data management services and advice to stakeholders including expert advice on data management.
  • Participate in various stakeholder engagement activities with diverse stakeholders and business areas to assess and identify practical strategies for improving data management.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of executive papers, briefings and presentations on data management improvement initiatives and concepts to stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and knowledge transfer to the Data Management Team Leader and the Data Services Section team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement, and role model best practice data management in accordance with the DMF.

Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated successful practical application of best practice data management, preferably experience applying DMBoK.
  • Qualifications and /or formal training in data and /or information management relevant to the role highly desirable.
  • Prioritise changing priorities to deliver multiple deliverables for business outcomes.
  • Apply attention to detail to ensure accuracy for information and achieve stakeholder outcomes.
  • You will thrive in a changing environment and demonstrate resilience, tact and be passionate about what you do.
  • Demonstrated success working in both an office environment and remotely as part of a geographically dispersed team.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills to form views, provide advice and make effective evidence-based decisions.
  • Sound knowledge of Federal Government Whole-of-Government initiatives directed towards more effective use of data and digital services.
