Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Senior Data Analyst on a contract for 3 months with possible extension.

About the Role:

The AN-ACC Policy Team, part of the Residential Care Funding Reform Branch is recruiting for a Senior Data Analyst. Your role will be to support the establishment and maintenance of the technical funding model. Produce value adding analysis of financial information and industry data to report on implementation of AN-ACC and inform policy decisions.

Key duties:

Under the guidance of the Director, the role of the Senior Data Analyst is to:

  • Manage a small team of data analysts
  • Manage input and advice from actuaries and specialised staff
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of BAU models
  • Analyse financial information and data to inform policy advice for Government
  • Manage regular and tight deadlines with the ability to understand and consider policy implications;
  • Prepare reports and provide advice for discussion and briefing papers; and
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Skills in data analysis and modelling (particularly using Excel, SAS, R or equivalent).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed critical thinking skills and the ability to analyse complex issues to develop reasoned conclusions.
  • Sound financial analysis skills.
  • Strong research and analysis skills to understand policy drivers.
  • Ability to manage staff to ensure quality and reliable outputs.
  • Ability to think strategically and be open to new ways of doing things
