Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Senior Data Analyst on a 7 months contract, option for extension.

Position Overview

The positions require strong data analysis, problem solving and communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a project team. The ACS is a dynamic and exciting agency, and the successful candidates will work collaboratively with experts from across the ACS partner agencies to provide authoritative advice in climate and natural hazard risks and impacts.

The Senior Data Analyst will be required to comply with all ACS work, health and safety policies and procedures, and take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be affected by their conduct. They will also demonstrate commitment to APS Values, Employment Principles, Code of Conduct and the Bureau's Social Justice Strategy.

Knowledge & Skills Required


The candidate must have:

  • Excellent data analysis and exploration skills
  • Experience working with geospatially-enabled data, including use of spatial analysis software such as ArcGIS
  • Demonstrated capability in data visualisation and communication, including the ability to create dashboards and reports
  • Strong capability in data processing and quality assurance
  • Effective communication skills
  • Exceptional organisational skills and disciplined work approach
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities


  • Qualifications in data science, data analytics or a related discipline
  • High level skills in statistical methods and programming
  • Experience in working with social, economic, built and/or environmental data
  • Exposure to emergency services and disaster management
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills
  • Australian Government Baseline security clearance or willingness to acquire (at the ACS' expense)
