As one of Australia's largest and leading human resource and consultancy agencies, Chandler Macleod has a proven track record of Unleashing Potential in both people and companies has partnered with a non-profit organisation that offers a free, 24-hour telephone crisis support service providing suicide prevention services, mental health support and emotional assistance, via telephone but face-to-face and online. We are looking to find an engaging, and organised Counsellor to lead and guide their regional Counselling Team.

Why the team needs you
Reporting to the GAP Project Manager you are responsible for providing online, telephone and face to face comprehensive specialist counselling support in gambling, financial and A&OD, and be responsible for managing complex caseloads by exercising initiative and professional judgement as part of your daily work. You will lead and coach a team of financial and gambling counsellors providing guidance, leadership, monitoring workflows, overseeing clinical governance and compliance.

What you'll bring to the team.
To be successful in this role, you are a highly motivated, passionate people person with a deep understanding of Trauma Informed Practice. You are collaborative and possess exceptional communication skills which enables you to liaise effectively with a wide variety of government and non-government agencies. An understanding of Indigenous health issues and a relevant degree, diploma in counselling or social work and relevant and current experience in Gambling Counselling, Financial counselling and/or AOD counselling will be key to your success in this role.

You will be persistent, resilient, assertive, approachable and act with positive purpose to achieve positive client and team outcomes as well as;
  • Eligible for membership of the Counsellors/Financial Counsellors Association of NSW and FCAN recognised for Peer Support
  • Team management/leadership experience
  • Understanding of gambling issues and the effects on families/individuals
  • Understanding of Domestic Violence and Trauma informed Practice
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent report, written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced computer literacy/online technology experience (including ability to work with MS Teams, CRM's and other databases
