Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a APS6 Senior Compliance Officer on a contract for 12 months/Non-ongoing.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The key activity performed within the team involves undertaking reviews of financial disclosure returns of various actors in the political system, claims for election funding following an electoral event and other investigations as required to assess compliance with Part XX of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.
  • The roles involve mentoring and supervising a small number of APS 4 and APS 5 staff.
  • The candidates will join a high performing team with an objective and passion to ensure transparency of the financial dealings of registered political parties, candidates and others involved in the electoral process, playing an integral role in the democratic process.
  • When an election event occurs, the candidate will also assist with the payment of election funding to eligible political parties and candidates.

Skills & Experience:

To excel the candidates will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting;
  • Experience in analysing complex information, providing concise and accurate advice and support on compliance;
  • Experience communicating and collaborating effectively with team members, business areas and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority;
  • A demonstrated ability to work autonomously and a strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC's strategic direction.
  • CA/CPA is not mandatory, but support would be offered if this was underway or the person was looking to commence.
