The role:

We are seeking a Communications Officer for a local government client based in Port Hedland.
This is a highly visible role that will see you leading, developing and implementing integrated marketing strategies for the business.

Ensuring the community is well informed of future plans and aspirations, this role will additionally provide effective leadership to the communications team.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, State and Federal agencies together with funding partners, and community organisations
  • Represent the business at relevant forums and working groups
  • Lead continuous reviews to develop and improve processes
  • Coordination of media activities
  • Monitor, measure and report on media coverage
  • Prepare and distribute media releases and internal communications

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following:
  • Tertiary qualification in Public Relations, Communications or Marketing
  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role and level
  • Demonstrated knowledge of government agencies and its practices and protocols
  • Advanced conceptual and practical knowledge of communications, marketing strategies and public relations including advertising and promotions
  • Demonstrated high quality written communication skills including report writing in a government setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, relationship building and problem solving skills.
