About the Organization:


Our client is a Federal Government agency, they are responsible for our national weather and climate services.
This Agency monitors and provides forecasts regarding important information and advice on environmental changes and its affect to Australians. Located in the Melbourne CBD and enjoying a hybrid approach to work, this agency is looking to engage an experienced Senior Communications Advisor to join them on a contract basis.


About the role:


The Senior Communication Advisor is responsible developing strategic communication plans and approaches and execute those plans to support complex transformation programs. You will be working as part of the organisation change team, the role will develop and execute communication plans to manage impacts (internal and external) and foster new ways of working. Additionally, You will have a proven ability to work in a team environment, build positive and trusted stakeholder relationships and the ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Developing the communication approach and plans for multiple projects within delivery streams, including the key messages for internal and external audiences,
  • Implementing approved communication plans, in alignment with other change activities, to build awareness and understanding of changes introduced using a variety of digital and traditional channels, with a focus on face to face
  • Tracking delivery of agreed artefacts to ensure project deadlines are met
  • Measuring the effectiveness of communications and providing guidance and support to the project delivery teams on messaging, channel selection and timing
  • Communication messaging - develop the narrative and key messages for core phases of the transition that address the case for change, develop communications for senior leaders, and targeted messaging for impacted audiences,
  • Planning - develop appropriate communications plans to support impacted stakeholder groups through the change and transition, aligned to project schedules and milestones,
  • Execution - track and manage the implementation of communications plans to agreed timeframes. Develop communication artefacts for internal and external audiences across a variety of media (focusing on digital/web, presentations/briefings, visual communications) that support the outcomes identified in communication and change plans.
  • Channels - manage dedicated communication channels to distribute communications and capture and respond to stakeholder feedback
  • Engagement - support stakeholder engagement processes and activities
  • Measurement and reporting - identify metrics, implement measurement tools and report on the effectiveness of communications, and adjust communication approaches in response
  • Capability development - support change communication capability within the program and more broadly across the Bureau.

Skills and Experience you will have:

  • Strong track record of delivering effective communications for complex technology change programs.
  • Experience developing communication strategies to support projects including audience analysis, key messages, target channels, and delivering communication tactics and activities.
  • Experience of working within a project delivery context to design, develop and manage communications for internal (including senior stakeholders) and external audiences.
  • Experience working alongside external communications, government relations and media peers to ensure a coordinated approach.
  • Communicate complex ideas effectively.


MANDATORY

  • Similar experience under Australian rules and regulations
  • Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's degree or higher) in communication, public relations and/or change management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Current Police Check, or ability to obtain one.
