Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL2 Analyst on a contract for 12 Months, with potential extensions of 6 months.

Position Overview

Our Client requires a high performing EL2 with exceptional analytical skills who would relish the opportunity to work in a cross-Government taskforce that is seeking to turbocharge Australia's post COVID-19 economic recovery through attracting high-value businesses and exceptional talent to Australia. In this position, the candidate will utilise their high-level analytical skills and knowledge to drive the taskforce's identification, assessment and engagement of high-yield businesses and exception talent. The candidate will work with their colleagues in a high-tempo and high-pressure team to attract businesses and talent to Australia.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilise and apply exceptional analytical skills, including through forensic interrogation of business related data and information, to deliver against the taskforce's remit.
    • Undertake independent research and analysis, and deliver high quality written reports and advice on a range of topics.
    • Deliver reports on an organisation's activities, and considering the economic and industry issues that might have affected the business.
    • Conduct market and company analyses, analysing data and information relating to businesses.
    • Provide financial insights on businesses that help the decision-making process for the Taskforce.
    • Monitor information and reporting from a range of sources relevant to the Taskforce.
  • Engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
    • Advise the Senior Executive on strategic issues influencing the operations of the taskforce.
    • Engage and consult with industry and state and territory governments as required.
  • Provide Strategic Direction.
    • Anticipate and establish priorities, monitor progress and work to deliver taskforce objectives.
  • Inform the preparation of high-quality briefing and reports.
    • Provide business-related advice that informs briefings and reports for the Secretary and Senior Executive.

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated academic and/or work experience in;
    • Corporate finance; or
    • Financial planning and analysis; or
    • Forensic accounting; or
    • Data science, or;
    • Investment banking or other related fields;
  • Strong working knowledge of financial modelling;
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills;
  • Attention to accuracy and detail required;
  • Ability to flexibly prioritise in a dynamic work environment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent strategic thinking and critical analysis skills;
  • Exceptional problem solving skills and judgement; and
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgement.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline clearance.
