Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Secretariat on a contract for 6 months with potential extension.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing the Internal Audit Work Program, which outlines the approved program of internal audits, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing secretariat services for the department's Audit and Risk Committee, including coordinating appointments, scheduling meetings, coordinating, collating and distributing meeting papers, and drafting agenda papers and minutes.
  • Procurement and contract management of internal audit services arrangements.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Developing and implementing a governance framework for the implementation of parliamentary committee recommendations.
  • Regularly reviewing and maintaining key audit documents including charters, protocols, and audit procedures.
  • Supporting the department's liaison with external audit.
  • Identifying and sharing lessons learned from audits and assurance reviews.

Skills & Experience:

  • The ability to effectively prioritise and manage competing priorities under pressure, and use initiative and judgement to achieve results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor language to different audiences and a high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to distil complex information and quickly identify critical issues to formulate appropriate advice
  • Engaging effectively with stakeholders and colleagues and a demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Always acting with high levels of integrity and professionalism in accordance with APS values and ethical standards
  • Professional qualifications and/or work experience in audit, risk, fraud, insurance or a related discipline are highly desirable, but not essential.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
