Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Scheme Integrity Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.

Position Overview:

The EL1 Assistant Director Scheme Integrity is an important team leadership position within the agency and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail. It will provide the leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the Team Membership and assigned Contractors working within the positions assigned Work Area.

The position will exercise a considerable degree of independence to engage in very complex problem solving and issues management within the functions. It will exercise sound decision-making and judgement to produce high level policy advice and operational support.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leading initiatives to identify opportunities to build better practices in compliance through the ongoing design and review of contemporary compliance approaches.
  • Providing guidance and support to the branch around management and escalation of compliance issues, accounting for applicable legislation, processes and procedures.
  • Leading the development and implementation of compliance related policies.
  • Providing advice and procedural guidance in areas of compliance and fraud related policy and design.
  • Coordinating and preparing a range of written material including business cases, reports, executive briefs and corporate documentation

Skills and Experience:

  • Leadership and Accountability
    • Ensure in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations.
    • Consider and effectively manage competing priorities and strategic directions when achieving team planning and project outcomes in line with agency goals and objectives.

    • Ensure quality outputs including that employees maintain a high level of specialist, professional and/or technical expertise.
    • Coordinate and undertake detailed or sensitive projects that impact on the strategic, political or operational outcomes of the agency.
  • Job Context and Environment
    • Attain and maintain an extensive understanding of the role and responsibilities of the agency, including and understanding of the APS operating environment more broadly.
    • Monitor emerging issues in a field and for identifying impact on agency priorities as well as engaging with risk and undertaking risk management activities for area of responsibility

    • Work with a level of independence, under broad direction, with a concurrent need to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes.
    • Communicate and make decisions that are based on professional judgement, evaluating risks and in the context of a complex and changing environment.
    • Work with a focus on research, analysis and judgement to manage complex issues.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.
    • Represent and explain the views of the agency at cross-agency meetings and other forums
