An exciting opportunity now exists with a Local Government department for a self-driven and experienced Roads Coordinator to assist with the co-ordination, supervision and completion of works projects for construction and maintenance of roads in beautiful Nambucca Heads.

Why the team needs you

  • Manage, direct and control the staff and resources allocated for all road works maintenance and construction functions (i.e. encompassing but not limited to construction projects, heavy patching of sealed urban and rural pavements, gravel re-sheeting, maintenance grading, drainage, and resealing/asphalting).
  • Ensure that the work teams under the control of the Coordinator undertake maintenance and construction projects efficiently and to an acceptable standard.
  • Initiate quality testing on works and materials
  • Implement quality control and work health and safety into all operations
  • Supervise and lead staff
  • Supervise the teams undertaking road maintenance and construction projects
  • Determine resourcing requirements, cost estimates and time schedules for projects
  • Ensure resources are available to ensure projects have continuity and are completed on time

To be successful in this role you will possess


  • Drivers licence
  • WHS Induction Certificate
  • Traffic Controller Certificate
  • Traffic Control Worksite Planning (Select/Modify Traffic Plans)
  • Design and Audit Traffic Control Plans
  • Demonstrated ability in supervising and co-ordinating work activities, staff and contractor
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sediment and erosion control techniques
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Experience in assisting with budget development
  • Demonstrated contract management
  • Available to be on-call on a roster system to manage after hours emergencies


  • TAFE Diploma or equivalent in Engineering
  • Project management skills and qualifications
  • Frontline management skills and qualifications
  • Asset rating and data collection experience
