Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Risk and Fraud Control Officer on a contract for 6 months.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Chief Risk Officer by providing timely, practical and reliable advice on risk, fraud and insurance related issues.
  • Assisting with regular reviews of the department's Risk Management Policy and Framework and enterprise risks.
  • Identifying and implementing change initiatives to enhance the department's positive risk culture and reviewing and updating the Risk Culture and Awareness Strategy.
  • Promoting consistent and effective risk management practices and building organisational capability through the provision of advice, facilitation of risk workshops, and the development of risk management tools and guidance.
  • Developing fraud control strategies and undertaking investigations. This includes contributing to the review and maintenance of the department's fraud control plan and fraud risk assessment, and providing advice on roles and responsibilities for preventing, detecting and responding to fraud.
  • Providing advice on Comcover insurance issues, including claims management and reporting, and acting as the principal point of contact for the department. This also involves coordinating the renewal questionnaire and the Risk Management Benchmarking Survey and undertaking a review of the department's insurable risks and insurance requirements.

Skills & Experience:

  • The ability to effectively prioritise and manage competing priorities under pressure, and use initiative and judgement to achieve results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor language to different audiences and a high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to distil complex information and quickly identify critical issues to formulate appropriate advice
  • Engaging effectively with stakeholders and colleagues and a demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Always acting with high levels of integrity and professionalism in accordance with APS values and ethical standards
  • Professional qualifications and/or work experience in audit, risk, fraud, insurance or a related discipline are highly desirable, but not essential.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
