Risk Advisor 
Location: Melbourne CBD
Travel Requirements: Fortnightly travel to Ballarat
Classification: 6.1


Position Purpose:

Reporting into the Manager Service Assurance, the Risk Advisor will provide trusted expert advice and support to business areas to maintain a current view of their risks and risk treatments and to drive the adoption of a positive risk culture that enhances our client's decision-making and other business activity. The Risk Advisor will be required to visit our Ballarat site fortnightly, engaging with team members located at this Customer Service Centre.

Key Accountability's:
  • Provide risk analysis, expertise, and guidance to improve the risk management process for our client.
  • Support implementation and ongoing maintenance of a Risk and Compliance Management System, including managing the compliance calendar, reporting and awareness.
  • Assist the leaders and managers in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our client's Assurance program to enhance risk-based decision making.
  • Support the team with the integration of Assurance findings within the risk profile, and to identify treatment activities to strengthen control frameworks.
  • Assist the business in the development of assurance tools (i.e., controlled self-assessments) to enable system health checks to be undertaken.
  • Support provision of advice to Executive over the effectiveness of controls, mitigating current and evolving risks and in so doing enhancing the controls culture within the business.

Key Capabilities:

  • Extensive experience in risk management, particularly in the areas of data analysis and project/program level risk improvement process in a commercial environment
  • Strong and practical understanding of risk and compliance, risk/governance framework and control structures and a proactive approach
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, a curious mindset with experience in continuous process improvement and change management
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and delivery of reports, briefs, and other materials regarding complex and sensitive matters
  • Demonstrated advisory experience, with the ability to support team capability, motivate and support others whilst developing clear team objectives and goals
  • Knowledge and understanding of related risk management standards or requirements (e.g., ISO31000, Victorian Government Risk Management Framework) desired.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience to the capabilities.

The successful candidate, will be employed directly by our client on a 6 month Fixed Term contract. There is a potential for the role to transition on to a more permanent basis.
