Quarry Manager

Chandler Macleod are looking for a Quarry Manager for our client, who can lead a small team and take over the baton from the
current manager. This role reports to the General Manager, and is an opportunity for a motivated person to make this job their own.
The ideal candidate should be well versed in quarry or small mine operations (open pit excavation,
screening, crushing, washing, and sorting) and maintenance (earth moving equipment, material
handling systems, and electronic control systems) tasks. The candidate should also possess the
ability and aptitude to maintain high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping
and compliance with all regulations.

Skills, Qualifications & Personal attributes:

  • NSW Quarry Managers Certificate
  • A minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in open pit mining, crushing, screening,
    washing and sorting including 3 years in a leadership capacity
  • Proven record of profitably managing mining operations with active management of safety,
    preventative maintenance and production targets
  • Proven experience in supervising small teams (10-15 people)
  • Proven experience in implementing capital projects for mining/ore sorting equipment
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated capability in recruiting, training, and leading a successful team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Tertiary qualification in mining, engineering, or surface operations management as per criteria published in the NSW Department of Industry's Certificate of Competence guide or willingness to sit for assessment for quarry manager.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead operations and maintenance team at mines and comply with all regulatory and
    statutory requirements
  • Liaise with regulators and stakeholders for timely approvals of projects, licences and plans
  • Supply quality and quantity of raw material as per the requirement of the customer
  • Monitor and approve all budgeted expenditures, both operating and capital projects
  • Control input production costs to optimize cost per ton
  • Liaise with geologist to ensure forward planning for Pit operations and optimize resource life and utilization
