Our Client is a privately owned Australian Company providing premium poultry products throughout Australia. Operating Nationally, our Clients' primary objective is to provide their customers with the highest quality products and excellent service.

Due to business growth there is currently a vacancy at their Tamworth Processing Plant for a suitably experienced and qualified Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor.

The key responsibility of the QA Supervisor is to ensure that product produced is fit for human consumption and animal consumption where applicable. This is achieved by supporting and delivering operational excellence by proactively coordinating and implementing quality assurance activities and initiatives, as well as driving quality and food safety through compliance within Further processing.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the QA Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Supervision of staff
  • Maintenance of and strict compliance to the Client's Quality & Environmental Management System including HACCP and document control
  • Support relevant departments within the operations to implement and maintain the system
  • Validating the quality systems and ensuring good communication within the department, the company and with suppliers and customers when required
  • Assisting in all site audits and accepting responsibility to follow up on any action requests in support of other departments
  • Data analysis of documentation and trends to ensure accurate production on weekly reports

    To be considered for the role, the candidate will have the following:

    Essential Qualifications/Licences:
  • Ideally tertiary qualification in food science / related agricultural science of relevant industry experience and training (including ISO 9000, HACCP and CMP)
  • Excellent leadership skills including conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Excellent people skills and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Legally permitted to work in Australia without limitations

    Critical skills and experience required:
  • Ability to make quick and correct decisions "on the job"
  • Ability to achieve production targets (meet Company guidelines)
  • A sound knowledge of all industry guidelines, especially in their areas
  • Food Safety and HACCP awareness Training
  • A firm commitment to produce food in a hygienic manner that is safe to eat
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to arrive at and implement long term preventive actions

    Preferable skills and experience:
  • Ability to work in a team environment to resolve problems or improve systems.
  • Background in poultry processing and / or cooking plant.
  • Prior knowledge of WHS and Environmental systems in the work place.
  • Structured training in computer database and spreadsheet use.
  • Good meeting management skills.
  • Experience dealing with customer complaints and conflict resolution.
  • Internal Auditing of food safety and quality systems
