About the Role:
Our Federal Government client is seeking a high performing self-starter to fill the position of Purchasing Officer at their Central Warehouse, located in Campbellfield.
The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability in the following areas:

  • Obtaining quotations to facilitate decision making before material purchase
  • Creating purchasing records, within the Enterprise Financial Management System and the Equipment Management system
  • Co-ordinating with suppliers regarding delivery timeframes for purchases
  • Responsiveness to changes in the priority of tasks to minimise disruption of this support service
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to ensure best value for money and optimal logistic support.

Additionally, strong interpersonal skills, a positive disposition and a well-established customer service/business partnering mindset are required to succeed in this role.
The successful applicant will be expected to work under limited supervision and be able to manage concurrent programs of work in a dynamic environment, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results.

Role Responsibilities:

The role of Purchasing Officer supports the stores functions related to the receipt, storing and despatch of goods with the management and the communication of the availability of goods across the supply chain and incorporates the following responsibilities:

  • Provide purchasing, inventory and materials management services using the SAP integrated financial system. Maintain records and systems to manage the proper and accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Ensure all processes are consistent with Accounting Standards and AAI's and Commonwealth Government Procurement Guidelines.
  • Liaise with internal staff to ensure that correct accounting procedures are followed. Investigate, interpret, evaluate information, and assist with preparing material for the training & guidance of staff and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake Stocktakes, including continual cycle counting of inventory, and update associated SAP records.
  • Facilitate and support a strong team culture.

Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of one years' experience in a similar role with a proven track-record of successfully delivering and/or contributing to supply chain functions, preferably in the public sector.
