Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Public Information Officer on a contract for 3 Months.

Position Overview

Public Information Officers will be required to handle initial contact from the public, via telephone and email (web form) and provide information. They will inform consumers and businesses about their rights and obligations under the Act, refer callers to appropriate complaint handling options and record information in the database.

This position generally works to rostered work times (between 8:30 am and 5:45pm Monday to Friday) although flexible workplace arrangements can be accommodated within operating hours. Team members must be able to work flexible hours to meet changing demand, including, from time to time, on non-national public holidays.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receive and respond to reports and requests for information relating to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, and related legislation. Provide relevant information and documentation as required.
  • Record telephone and email reports and enquiries into databases.
  • With direction, undertake research in relation to reports and requests for information.
  • Work within documented precedents / guidelines and procedures.
  • Assess the relevance of information received and identify and refer matters requiring further attention to other staff.
