About the role
We are partnering with Western Australia's largest and busiest general cargo port to secure the services of an experienced Project Superintendent - Asset and Infrastructure.

This assignment will cover a period of 6 months, on a Monday - Friday roster, with standard 38 to 40 hour per week.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Superintendent is responsible for management of Construction Contractors in accordance with Fremantle Ports Contracts, including the supervision and co-ordination of on-site Construction Contractors as required, facilitating contractor delivery to plan and ensuring construction compliance with designs, specifications and industry best practice.

Key Duties:


 Coordinating the overall on-site performance and coordination of the construction activities.
 Monitor and report projects' progress to the Project Manager, against the established project plans and targets.
 Assist with the preparation of scopes of work and specifications for tender and construction purposes including preliminary site inspection and work feasibility assessment.
 Coordinate document control, material procurement, warehousing and testing to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
 Establishes and maintains effective intra-divisional, cross-divisional and external working relationships to ensure achievements of strategic and operational objectives.

 Liaise with Engineering, Procurement and Contract Management to assist in the development and approval of prepare tender documents; evaluate tenders and make recommendations for discussion with the Project Service team members.
 Assist Project Management Team and the Manager Projects Services with the preparation of projects budget estimates and work schedules.
 Communicate with other Managers and Supervisors whose areas of work are affected by projects output. e.g. Marine Services, Property, Port Services, Traffic Management, Small Craft Services.
 Coordinate, prepare, implement and review Permits, Risk Management Plans and Job Safety Analysis prior to work commencement.
 Coordinate document control, material procurement, warehousing and testing to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.

To be successful in this role, you will require the following work experience:

  • Project Supervision and Contract Administration skills.
  • Experience in Civil Infrastructure, Services, Construction or maintenance.
  • Demonstrated coordination and supervisory skills with experience in managing in an industrial environment including knowledge of Equal Opportunity principals.
  • Experience in formulating construction scopes of works, specifications and scheduling.
  • Experience in formulating, implementing and managing construction methods and budget estimates.
  • Good written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of statutory legislation and regulations relating to construction and maintenance.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant Act/ Regulations and demonstrated ability to implement and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management and Continuous Improvement Principles.
  • Experience in Civil construction and or marine maintenance.
  • Experience in Engineering Surveying.
  • Knowledge of Mines Safety and Inspection Act/ Regulations and their associated Codes of Practice, Guidance Notes and Australian Standards.


Ideal candidates must also hold the following prerequisites:

  • Trade and or Tertiary Qualifications in Civil, Building or Construction discipline or extensive relevant experience.
  • Qualifications in Contract Administration and or Project Management.
  • Provide a current Drivers Licence
