About the role

We are partnering with a WA renowned organisation, one of Australia's leading mineral providers of bauxite, to secure the services of an experienced P6 Planner to join their Capital Projects Planning Team based at their Pinjarra site for the remainder of 2021. This is on a Monday - Friday (38 hour week) Roster and there is the flexibility of working at their Perth SOR offices a couple of days per week.

The primary function of this role is to develop, control and maintain an integrated project schedule for each of the assigned projects. The planner role is an integral part of the PM/PC organization and plays a key role in the successful delivery of the Large Project Portfolio within the Capital Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Develops totally integrated EPC schedules and control programs.
  • Prepares project planning basis.
  • Develops schedule format and a list of activities.
  • Establishes the duration of project activities and overall logic for the execution of work
  • Prepares Schedule of Activities, Project Execution Plan and Staffing Plan based on the Execution Strategy
  • Prepares, issues, and maintains management and project-level schedules and other project specific schedules, as required
  • Coordinates, maintains and participates with the disciplines in the development of control level schedules
  • Prepares and analyses schedule status reports. Maintains progress and performance charts and reports to communicate project performance to Project Management and other stakeholders
  • Analyses and forecasts time/cost impact. Determines schedule/cost trends variations and deviations, and informs Project Management of potential problem areas and recommends solutions or recovery plans to schedule/cost impact or delays
  • Coordinates with Procurement and Engineering for drawing and equipment delivery schedules
  • Measures, reports and analyses engineering and construction progress using an earned value basis
  • Actively participates in the management of key project materials in close collaboration with Engineering, Construction, and Procurement
  • Ensures that proper Project Controls techniques are employed on projects
  • Interfaces and coordinates with internal and external clients to ensure successful project execution
  • Audits and reviews processes for contractor's schedules for select projects and identify compliance issues and/or opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to development of and participate in Independent Peer Reviews on selected projects to facilitate confidence in the project schedule being achievable
  • Provide input to scheduling and schedule control policies.
  • Development of scheduling / resourcing norms for schedule development of large projects

To be successful in this role, you will require the following work experience:

  • Formal qualifications in QS | Engineering | Project Management
  • 8+ years' experience in a scheduling/planning role
  • Experience in the alumina, mining or a heavy industry preferable
  • Must have working knowledge of P6 Excel & MS Office Suite
