Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Project Manager - Waste Recycling on a contract for 18 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Advisor Policy & Regulatory, Environment and Strategy , the Project Manager will be responsible for managing a distinct project for AMSA.

The successful candidate will work with government departments, consultants and industry to

  • undertake a trial at several ports, to separate ships' recyclable waste for recycling
  • using the results and data of the trial inform an assessment of risks to biosecurity (to be undertaken by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment) and
  • develop a framework that can be used to facilitate recycling of ships' waste in ports around Australia.

The Project Manager will deliver the project within a combined government-industry setting and will be responsible for its effective development and delivery.

Major areas of Responsibility

The main areas of responsibility for this role:

  • Working with the Environment and Strategy team, lead a project to develop a national framework for recycling of ships' recyclable waste materials
  • Stakeholder engagement and liaison across industry and all tiers of government
  • Procurement and contract management (including evaluation of tenders) for a consultant to help conduct the pilot and report its outcomes
  • Manage and deliver each key project stage, on time and within budget, including project reports
  • Documentation and record management for the project and associated costs
