Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Project Manager on a contract for 6 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

The Job

The successful candidate will undertake work with a high level of complexity or sensitivity, operate under broad direction, exercise a significant degree of independence and perform an important leadership and coordination role.

Knowledge and experience

  • Proven ability to apply and promote project management skills and practices in a complex dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of a small taskforce working closely with multiple Commonwealth agencies and teams, state government agencies and Ministerial offices
  • Proven ability to deliver high-level materials in tight timeframes and quickly adapt and respond to changing priorities and environment
  • Proven high-level capacity to understand policy, program, legislative and data issues as they impact on project management activities.
  • Extensive experience preparing and maintaining project plans, risk plans and reporting and a demonstrated ability use these to effectively brief Senior Executive on risks, issues and opportunities as they arise.
  • Highly developed ability to solve problems and make evidence-based decisions and exercise good judgement.

  • High level project management and contract management skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills combined with a proven ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high performing and inclusive team and communicate effectively to provide a positive work environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders and build strong working relationships.
  • Exercise sound judgement and ability to set and understand work tasks that align with the strategic objectives and communicate these to a broad group of stakeholders
  • Have the initiative, flexibility, personal motivation, and ability to prioritise work and deliver tasks within tight deadlines under limited supervision.
  • The ability to work cooperatively and be flexible and responsive to the needs of the team, including during times of change and uncertainty.

As an EL1, you will be part of a small team working collaboratively to deliver aspects of the Basin Plan. You will use your expertise in project management to identify, prepare, maintain and communicate across multiple teams working in a similar space on similar issues with the same key stakeholders. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the work of the taskforce through policy, program and engagement activities.
