About the organisation:

About the role:
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget while also providing effective control of the scope, design, construction and handover of projects within the Project Delivery Group.
  • Capture risks using a risk register to ensure risk identification and mitigation strategies are implemented.
  • Report on project status, scope, budget, schedule and risks within the organisation, and externally to the client as required to ensure project governance and a management control framework enabling effective decision making.
  • Ensure that the projects adhere to the guidelines and processes required by law, by the client and by the rail operator
  • Support the Senior Project Manager to manage the project team to ensure successful project delivery. The team may include other staff in the project group, organisation partners, clients, contractors and suppliers
  • Contribute to management of external functions and vendor relationships, as required for project success. This may include liaising, negotiating and coordinating with staff from other Government organisations
  • Provide safety leadership on projects, ensuring that contractors and their staff are fully aware of and comply with health and safety policies, directives and statutory requirements.
  • Negotiating and administering contracts with consultants, designers, contractors and equipment suppliers to achieve the project objectives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying patterns of issues across multiple projects, and escalating and/ or resolving as appropriate.
About you:
Ideally you will have relevant education and experience in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations, as well as:
  • Fully vaccinated to be able to work in the office
  • Experience and knowledge in Project Management
  • Proven experience managing contracts and project finances
  • Knowledge of OH&S Legislation, Regulations and Codes of Practice, Quality Standards, Environmental legislation and other associated legislative requirements
  • Ability to expertly manage and maintain relationships with stakeholders to complete tasks and meet agency goals
  • Constantly seek to identify issues and implement strategies to overcome them
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
