Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Project Manager on a contract for 12 months with potential extension of 1*12 & 1*6 Months.

About the Role:

The Project Managers will be required to provide project management services relating to any or all activities involved in the reform program and associated sub-projects while embedded in collaborative roles within the Department and ensuring knowledge transfer to departmental staff. Both officers will also work with a change manager and the broader branch as part of this process.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Deliverables include, but are not limited to:

  • providing timely and expert advice and support to the Department in relation to implementation of project management policies, processes and tools;
  • providing timely and expert support and advice for departmental project managers undertaking specific project management activities;
  • development of progress reports for senior executives and governance bodies
  • partnering with Department project managers to assist with project administration support activities, including secretariat support and records management;
  • coordinating external and internal stakeholder input into the procurement process, including statements of requirement; and project closure.
  • Use of Confluence and Jira to track the projects

Performance Standards:

Applicants must:

  • Have demonstrated experience in a similar program of reforms and/or project.

Highly desirable:

  • Nominated personnel to have demonstrated experience or knowledge of the AMEP, the Vocational Education and Training sector, the Migrant Settlement sector and/or the Department's operating environment or the ability to quickly acquire.
  • Nominated personnel to have demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of Confluence and Jira
  • Nominated personnel have a current or recent (within last 12 months) Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) from the Department (note an ESC is a requirement prior to commencement as per item 15)


The applicant may be required to contribute to development and implementing of the following deliverables during the contract:

  • Project management plans for projects supporting the reforms
  • Contribute to reports for executive
  • Progress sign off reports for key stages of the process;
  • Project schedules and other project artefacts and documents.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
