The Opportunity
Chandler Macleod is looking to engage an experienced Project Manager for a contract term of 6 months with a well-established NSW Government department.

The primary purpose of this role is to manage and lead the delivery of the Cahill Expressway Activation project, leading teams and external contractors from the initial conception of the event to its successful completion, aligning with the strategic direction set for the project.

Job Specification
In this position, you will be required to perform but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Manage the contract, goals and deliverables with the external Event Services Provider, leading the planning and implementation of the event, defining project tasks and resource requirements, developing full scale project plans and timelines, ensuring all event tasks are delivered, risk mitigation strategies are prepared and all event legislative requirements are met.
  • Manage the overall event budget including category-specific budgets, identifying opportunities to reduce costs or reallocate funds to ensure that the project stays on budget, and ensuring that all milestone payments are achieved and processed for payment accordingly.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for the Event Services Provider and external stakeholders, answering questions and resolving issues that arise over the course of the event, providing updates and guidance throughout the planning and event delivery process.
  • Lead inter-agency and government coordination (NSW Police Force, Transport for NSW, landowners etc.) to ensure that all parties deliver on project requirements, deadlines and schedules, meeting with event team members to identify and resolve issues.
  • Monitor and report on progress of the event to all stakeholders, presenting reports defining project progress, problems and solutions, preparing status reports, briefing notes and conducting post-event evaluations and assessment of results.
  • Lead and motivate project staff through a creative and collaborative work environment with a strong external consumer focus, delegating duties, monitoring staff performance, setting clear team goals and listening to team members' feedback to establish and maintain a culture of team work, achievement, accountability and outcome focus.

About You
To be successful in this position, you will need to have:

  • Extensive senior level experience in leading, developing and implementing successful event plans, including project and contract management principles and best practice to deliver set outcomes within complex organisations and public sector environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the design, development and implementation of large-scale events with extensive relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to work with internal teams and external stakeholders, attention to detail, big-picture thinking and vision, critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
