Strategic Project manager

Queensland government department is seeking an experienced person to lead a project in developing a proposed strategic plan for a harbour portfolio. The strategic plan will confirm the vision and mission of the harbours' and set objectives. These fundamentals will be used to provide direction to inform ongoing portfolio reform projects such as master planning initiatives, leasing policy and the remake of transport infrastructure regulation 2011 (public marine facilities). As well as the review of fees and charges under the regulation to ensure the harbour portfolio continues to be financially stable.

Key accountabilities of the role are to.

  • Develop a project plan that will communicate with executive level stakeholders on actions to be undertaken for development of a strategic plan.
  • Develop and deliver a proposed strategic plan for the portfolio that prioritises the Short-term and long-term organisational objectives and aligns with the developed vision and mission, which can be used to further develop policy and inform future portfolio reform projects.
  • Provide leadership in the management of the project. Ensuring risks are identified with strategies implemented to mitigate risks and track progress against deliverables to ensure project success.
  • Facilitate internal and external workshops, forums and engagement activities to gather data to discover and resolve complex issues.
  • Consult, liaise, negotiate and maintain effective relationships with other branches, other government agencies, local government, industry, the community, private sector and other stakeholders.

To be considered for this role you will be experienced in providing strategic advice and overseeing projects to ensure outcomes are achieved. You will have proven track record in project planning and prioritising , communicating and engaging effectively with internal stakeholders, government agencies, external vendors and industry bodies at all levels.

You will be:

  • Experienced and/or qualified in project management
  • Experienced in the management and delivery of strategic projects
  • Able to demonstrate a high standard of communication skills and techniques.
  • Effectively builds and sustains relationships at all levels to enable the collaborative delivery of customer focused outcomes.
  • Stimulates ideas and innovation, embracing change and leads with focus and optimism in an environment of complexity and ambiguity.
  • Demonstrates sound governance, maintaining a high standard of practice
  • Experience working within a maritime network is desirable

Brisbane CBD base office with travel required to visit multiple sites.

6 Month contract.

36.25 hour work week with flexibility in working hours.
