About the role
We are partnering with Western Australia's largest and busiest general cargo port, to secure the services of an experienced Construction professional to perform the role of Project Supervisor (Lead)- Asset and Infrastructure.

This assignment will cover a period of 6 months (with possible extension), on a Monday - Friday roster, with standard 38 to 40 hour per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Reporting to the Manager, Project Services, the Project Lead is responsible for on-site supervision, allocation, coordination and execution of projects as required. This role also helps to facilitate construction compliance and designs, through industry best practice.

Key Duties:

  • Effectively leads Project Supervision Team
  • Contributes to the ongoing strategic development and management of the Authority in accordance with, the Authority's Strategic Plan.
  • Provides technical advice and consultancy services for the formulation of Policies and strategies in relation to Civil/ Structural Maintenance & Projects.
  • Assist in the formulation of Civil/ Structural Maintenance & Projects objectives, operational plans and targets and ensures they are aligned to Fremantle Ports' business goals.
  • Report works progress, covering cost and quality issues, commission and undertakes final inspections of completed projects.
  • Supervise maintenance contracts, construction contracts; promote harmonious and constructive work relationships between the contractors and Fremantle Ports.
  • Assist with the preparation of scopes of work and specifications for tender and construction purposes including preliminary site inspection and work feasibility assessment
  • Liaise with the contractors and customers on behalf of the Fremantle Ports.
  • Coordinate document control, material procurement, warehousing and testing to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Coordinate, prepare, implement and review Risk Management Plans and Job Safety Analysis prior to work commencement.
  • Establishes and maintains effective intra-divisional, cross-divisional and external working relationships to ensure achievements of strategic and operational objectives.
  • Assist Project Management Team and the Manager Projects & Operations with the preparation of maintenance projects budget and work schedules.
  • Liaise with the Projects & Operations Branch to plan and review work progress and report to the Civil/ Structural Maintenance Manager.
  • Communicate with other Managers and Supervisors whose areas of work are affected by projects output. E.g. Marine Services, Port Services, Traffic Management, Small Craft Services.

    To be successful in this role, you will require the following work experience:
  • Project Supervision and Contract Administration skills.
  • Demonstrated coordination and supervisory skills with experience in managing in an industrial environment including knowledge of Equal Opportunity principals.
  • Experience in formulating maintenance/ construction scopes of works, specifications and scheduling.
  • Experience in formulating, implementing and managing construction methods and budget estimates.
  • Good written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of statutory legislation and regulations relating to construction and maintenance.

    Ideal candidates must also hold the following prerequisites:
  • Trade and or Tertiary Qualifications in Civil, Building or Construction discipline or extensive relevant experience.
  • Qualifications in Contract Administration and or Project Management.
  • Provide a current Drivers Licence
