Project Lead

Reporting to the Project Manager for the OPF Automation Project the project lead will be responsible for a delivery of a package of works at a single site, Executing tasks in line with the PMP and autonomy roadmap around the technical engineering and has accountability to ensure that they meet the agreed Project Safety, Scope, Schedule, Quality and Budget requirements.

The Project Lead will provide specialist technical advice and executes tasks in accordance with the agreed program of works at the specific site. The Project lead will also take on several PM accountabilities such as having ownership of the schedule and budget management at that site. The Project Lead will be Proficient with the conditions of the contract and delivers the project under direction of the Project Manager.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Managing the technical direction of the Project and ensuring that it is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with a variety of management teams within the business; e.g. Site Management, Operations Centre Management, and Technology and Autonomy team management.
  • Engaging and working with vendors to deliver the project.
  • Preparing and submitting accurate budget and schedule reports.
  • Preparing and delivering project update/briefing presentations
  • Assisting and mentoring other team members with completing their assigned works.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Experience executing projects in the range of $10M-$20M as the EPCM.
  • A working knowledge of Mineral Processing Plants (preferably wet iron ore plants) and the mining value chain.
  • Extensive experience in delivering innovative projects, and a history of delivering Automation, Processing, or Process Control System projects.
  • Proven history in executing projects in a safe manner.
  • Experience in delivering projects on an operating brownfields site.
  • Capable of developing high level presentations for management level audience.
  • Experienced in defining a contracting strategy as well as negotiation and managing contracts.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and analytical focus.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
