Our client is seeking to engage a Project Engineer - Supervisor Communications on a contract for 6 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

The main responsibilities of Project Engineer are to act as technical / installation design leader at site, to ensure the installation of the Communication Systems delivered successfully in conformance with Customer approved design and project requirements and it is fit to purpose including appropriate management of changes at site.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with sub-system designers to obtain equipment and system installation requirement and procedures to ensure that the installations are compliant and correctly performed
  • To understand interface requirement, battery limits and restrictions including civil, architectural, power and fire and safety as per the required standard.
  • Attend Site Interface Meetings with Customer and Interfacing Parties and Coordinate with them the installation acceptance and supervision activities
  • Verify and validate Customised detailed installation design for the systems to meet specific site construction requirement
  • Review and approve Material supplied by installation Contractor including the request of any deviations from requirements
  • Validate Installation method statements of the installation Contractor
  • Perform Site surveys and inspections to ensure pre-requisites are captured before install. including Review of Interfaces tests records
  • Act as Technical Authority on site and Provide Technical support to the installation Contractor teams during site implementation for fast resolution of any construction issues encountered.
  • Perform Inspection on the quality of installation and raise any non-conformances (jointly with quality team) and escalate to the Construction Manager if necessary, ensure All non-conformance during installation are properly reported and corrected before the mobilization of the Test and Commissioning Team.
  • Perform Installation audit including attendance Customer Witness point
  • Validate or produce Red-line drawings and As-built drawings post install.
  • Attend to installation validation tests sessions, power/energisation activities, and ensure testing and commissioning pre-requisites are met.
  • Lead the Transition activities between the Install Contractor to Test and Commissioning and handover the documentation package prepared including interface installation readiness, installation test results, punch list for defects and red-lines drawings.
  • Report Site engineering changes with detailed description/analysis of the change and proposed solutions.
  • Conduct internal CCBs (Change Control Board) by engaging all relevant stakeholders/functions to perform detailed impact assessment and agree on the decision
  • Prepare and conduct required external CCB review with main Customer to approve installation review activities if required
  • Validate the deployment of approved installation changes at site
  • Manage and control the Drawings/Docs master register and auditing the document control process with Installation Contractor
  • Support logistic activities and material management with site reporting and quantity surveys.
  • Management of the responding to main Contractor.
  • Administer deployment Management tool for assigned system including Extracting and verifying progress, verifying data and material installed.
  • Understand commercial and contractual obligations and report claiming events

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Degree/Diploma of Engineering in the field of Telecommunication/ Electronics /Electrical/ Industrial
  • 5+ years' experience in construction/ or relevant engineering organisation
  • Experience of working in complex telecommunications projects and security systems for mass transportation.
  • Experience identifying, assessing & addressing issues relating to installations of cabling and equipment in greenfield sites
  • Understand local Workplace Health & Safety requirement and relevant regulation surrounding installation.
  • Experience in installation for Horizontal and Vertical construction
  • Understanding of engineering drawings, schematics, tool/bench drawings and other technical documents
  • Hands on experience with installation and commissioning of equipment/tools.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic technical troubleshooting and case management skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all internal stakeholder, escalating blockers and issues to team Leader
  • Provide technical ability in problem-solving, including proposing and discussing fixes, advising and educating Customers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to track status and drive system fixes & Feature Requests.
  • Communication skills written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Project, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Teamwork - Personal Interrelationship
  • Understand the relevant standards associated with the installation design for the system to be delivered
  • Knowledge of Design Engineering process
  • Knowledge of international standards and local standards
  • Knowledge of Communications and Control systems
  • Experience in the railway field of operational support systems: SCADA, telecommunications: WAN, LAN, WI-FI, TETRA, Passenger information ground and on board: Audio, Video, Passenger information Display, Public address system, Security: CCTV, VCA, Access Control, Fire Detection.
  • Use of AutoCAD and 3D model tools such as BIM / Navisworks
  • Driver's license
  • RIW and White Cards are desirable
