Position title: Project Engineer - Delivery - (HV Sub-stations & Cables)
Contract Estimation Duration: 6 Months + Possible further 6 Months.
Company Type / Size: Tier 1 Commercial - Power Co.
Location: Sydney CBD
Salary / Rate: Pay - $500+PD + Super. Up to $900 PD.

Purpose of this position:
The Project Engineer manages the development and coordination of design, and project management of the
delivery phase of the Powering Sydney's Future (cable project), in compliance with appropriate technical, work
health & safety, environmental, budget, time, statutory and quality requirements.

General Requirements:

  • Support the Program and Project Managers (Cables and Sub-stations in the execution of the delivery phase of the project to achieve completion of the agreed scope within agreed budget, time and accepted quality standards.
  • Prepare and update project plans and management plans. Ensure plans consider risks and include appropriate mitigations.
  • Co-ordinate with design review team to deliver design to the Clients' standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate with senior managers to prepare short- and long-term plans to achieve project milestones.
  • Analysis and management of project schedules from contractors to Project Schedule to ensure program accuracy.
  • Monitor and prepare reports to management on project progress, cost and performance (incl contractor KPI's against program and budget targets using corporate tools.
  • Ensure that project risks are identified, assessed and updated. Monitor and report to management on project risks and issues.
  • Support Project Manager in arranging for the procurement of materials and external services associated with the projects.
  • Arrange for outages of the HV system in association with the Site Manager.
  • Preparation of project planning documentation incl commissioning plans, contingency plans, Advice of Alteration, Request for Connection and Staff Warning, (if applicable).
  • Provide advice, information, reports and submissions to achieve technical objectives.
  • Develop presentations on technical areas for stakeholder engagements and for internal project team.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant financial requirements.
  • Ensure WAE documentation is provided at the completion of projects and appropriate hand-over to Asset Management occurs.
  • Support Project Manager in day-today contract management (e.g. Review of contractor provided management plans, claims, correspondence).
  • Support Site Manger with on-site inspections.
  • Monitor contractor performance (KPIs), prepare and issue summary status reports on contractor performance.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of plans to enable the effective administration of contracts.


    Technical Scope:
     Apply technical knowledge to analyse construction issues. Provide advice and support during the currency of contracts and projects.
     Demonstrate a high-level technical understanding relevant to the role.
     Coordinate and manage the IFC design in accordance with appropriate standards.
     Provide alternative technical solutions where applicable and make recommendations based on cost, environmental, safety and operational issues.
     Provide support and assistance to various stakeholders to meet project program.

    Education:
  • Tertiary qualification at degree level in Electrical or Civil Engineering or equivalent extensive industry experience.
  • Engineering experience in cable or substation projects incl. environmental and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Experience in the development of detailed project schedules and cost estimates for projects.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, report writing and business reporting skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Government policy guidelines, which govern safety, engineering design, environmental assessment for the implementation of engineering projects.
  • Current driver's licence and the ability to work away from assigned location.
