We are currently recruiting for up to 4 Project Director for our client, a NSW Government agency, on an initial 12 month contract (with strong possibility of extension) to be based in Sydney CBD and the flexibility of WFH. The daily rate is up to $900 - $1000 per day including super, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week This is a client side, construction role and experience of end-to-end delivery of commercial building projects (not civil infrastructure) of over $20m is essential.

The Role:

The Project Director will lead and manage the project teams through project governance and formation to deliver the major capital works outcomes.

Key accountabilities

Sole accountability for the delivery of assigned projects, including:

  • Ensure probity relating to procurement, contracting arrangements and ensure procurement plans are in place, undertaken and reviewed with a focus on the end user, value for money, project timing, innovation and future use.
  • Managing and reporting on the payment of consultants and contractors in accordance with legislation and contracts.
  • Plan and oversee the forward works project procurement including engaging consultants and contractors responsible for delivering individual projects and ensuring the best quality services
  • Accountable for the development of project briefs, project plans and risk management plans for individual projects, including liaising with the Asset Planners in the development of all requirements on Capital Works proposals.

Selection criteria

  • Relevant tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in Construction, Engineering is essential
  • Extensive, successful project/program management of construction and building related projects to a value of more than $20 million in Australia such as Schools, Universities, Hospitals, Aged Care, Hospitality, Aviation or similar.
  • Client Side Project Management experience and ability to be able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders is essential.
  • Proven experience of delivery projects of longer duration, typically up to 3 years, with clear objectives, potential for conflict and a number of influential key stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership to small teams and has demonstrated experience to achieve outcomes by providing constructive feedback to others around their performance, strengths and development needs.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Full working rights in Australia
