We are currently recruiting for up to 3 Project Directors for our client, a NSW Government agency, on an initial 12 month contract (with strong possibility of extension) to be based in Sydney CBD and with the flexibility of working from home 3 days per week. The daily rate is $750 -$1000 per day + super (pay rates of over $900 per day include super). 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.

Key accountabilities

  • Oversee the project lifecycle from project initiation, strategic planning and business case development through to construction delivery and operations for major and minor works programs, including new and refurbished facilities, to ensure that all project activities, gateway and milestones are achieved within project and contract specifications and completed with minimal disruption to normal school business activity.
  • Oversee the development of strategic options and value management / value engineering processes including workshops and reporting, through the business case, master planning and concept design development phases, to ensure that the project scope meets the educational service need and represents value for money for government.
  • Oversee the project assurance review processes to ensure readiness to proceed and successful completion of gateway milestones for internal Assurance Reviews and external Infrastructure NSW Infrastructure Investor Assurance Framework (IIAF) Gateway Assurance Reviews.
  • Manage project planning and delivery interfaces with service providers, design teams and building contractors while ensuring project are delivered under specified time, cost, risk and quality framework.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, governance, probity, risk, procurement and project gateway and reporting frameworks to identify and minimise financial, reputational and program/service delivery risks thus ensuring effective program of work infrastructure planning, reporting and delivery.
  • Develop and implement effective communication processes linking multiple programs, projects and delivery groups to enable clear tracking of project and contract performance, the early identification of issues and risks and the implementation of integrated and coordinated strategies and plans to resolve issues, assess the impact of changes and reduce future risk.
  • Escalate any major strategic or emerging issues arising from individual project management and provide timely information in response to internal and external stakeholder and Ministerial briefings information requests.
  • Ensure all project management systems and reporting tools are used, maintained and updated to facilitate the availability of accurate and timely project status information



Selection criteria

  • Minimum 4-5 years full lifecycle project management experience within commercial building projects (Education, Health, Government Aged Care, Transport, Commercial or similar) of $20m and above
  • Previous experience of Government construction projects, either client-side or consultancy
  • Experience and understanding of business case development for government projects would be highly desirable
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and understanding of governance
  • Current driver's licence.
