This position ensures that the design and implementation of public domain lighting assets, and associated electrical and lighting infrastructure is consistent with standards of the 2050 vision and sustainable renewal objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Under the guidance of the Principal Engineer, manage the City’s lighting and electrical assets, including condition assessment, scoping of projects, preparing maintenance and renewal programs and ensuring assets are constructed and handed over in accordance with the requirements and recorded in the City’s assets and GIS systems.
• Investigate public domain electrical and lighting issues and inquiries and prepare technical reports with recommendations on appropriate actions. Undertake field inspections as required, including during construction and at asset handover and preparation of accurate reports as required.
• Assist to manage third party requests for access to the City’s electrical and lighting infrastructure as defined by Facility Access Agreements and other arrangements.
• Assist in the development and management of contracts, exercising good governance, strong project management control and effective decision making. Assist in the development of specifications, contracts and other service delivery arrangements to maintain and supply electrical and lighting assets, and ensure service provider compliance with specifications through appropriate controls and effective performance management.
• Work closely with staff to deliver the objectives of the electrical and lighting team. Provide assistance for the delivery of capital and operational work delivered by internal staff and contractors.
• Provide support and assistance for the general activities of the unit.
• Contribute to identification of opportunities for improvements through technological advancements and to the Business standards, policies and procedures using creative problem-solving techniques.
• Procurement of goods and services for the unit and assist in reconciling all creditor invoices and purchase orders. Key Challenges • Providing timely and accurate advice within a high-volume environment.
• Applying advanced technical expertise to inform decisions and manage risks relating to the management of an extensive and complex asset portfolio. • Establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with multiple stakeholders.
• Managing multiple tasks from multiple people delivering across the unit.
• Manage contracts and monitor the provision of service to ensure compliance with contract and service agreements

Desiarable Skills & Experience
• Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering or experienced licenced tradesperson with relevant experience in electrical construction, project management, contract management or a related field.
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and negotiation skills with a customer service focus.
• Experience in achieving outcomes through effective dealings with consultants, contractors and service providers.
• Demonstrated relevant knowledge in the electrical construction industry.
• NSW Class C Driver License

Essential Skills
  1. Hold an electrical contractor’s licence.
  2. Has an experience in the public authority lighting network.
  3. Has an experience with Ausgrid street lighting or similar network provider
