Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Program-Policy Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension 12 months.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work in a small team and work across policy, project management, IT delivery and program management to assist in the management of mutual obligation requirements job seekers have to improve their employment prospects. This will include:

  • Developing operational policy and program planning for changes to mutual obligations and compliance
  • Providing advice to key stakeholders on mutual obligation requirement
  • Developing updates to program guidelines, training and reference material for job seekers, employment service providers and departmental staff
  • Implementing projects to improve policy and process, and
  • Supporting changes to the IT system that supports job seekers and employment service providers to manage mutual obligation requirements.

Required capabilities, experience and/or qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following capabilities/experience and/or qualifications:

  • Experience developing program micro-policy and operational policy guidance
  • Provide advice and technical expertise in specific areas when contributing to policy development and program planning
  • Well-developed communication skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Data monitoring and analysis experience, including the ability to identify risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills and a commitment to achieving results through taking responsibility for own work tasks, being a cooperative member of a team and successfully managing competing deadlines and delivering high quality work
  • The ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, assisting with policy advice, briefs, issues management and ministerial responses as part of the broader responsibilities of the team.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
