Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a EL1/EL2 Program Manager on a contract for 10 months with potential extension.

  1. What we are looking for

To be suitable, candidates should have demonstrated most or all the following skills, qualities, and experience:

  • knowledge and experience implementing programs (such as P3M3 framework), or experience running multiple projects simultaneously with shared budget and objectives
  • program and project management methods
  • delivering complex program outcomes
  • building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • well-developed communication and negotiation skills
  • ability to quickly gain a strong understanding of a complex policy domain and deliver in this context.

Qualifications in program and/or project management methods (such as PRINCE2, PMP Certified or similar) and knowledge of project management software such as Jira or Microsoft Project will be well regarded.

Any of the following is desirable but not essential:

  • experience working in Commonwealth/state relations
  • understanding of data and research issues
  • awareness of disability policy issues and/or health and human services delivery
  • experience with cloud computing and large-scale IT programs

  1. About the role and area

We are looking to fill the role of Program Manager for the National Disability Data Asset (NDDA) - a program of national importance that aims to give a more complete picture of the life experiences of people with disability. In this role the successful candidate will assist the Department to achieve NDDA program outcomes through application of effective program management methods.

The Program Manager will drive NDDA outcomes for the Commonwealth as part of the NDDA leadership team and supporting the NDDA Project Delivery Board. They will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing streams of work and projects across department to ensure the delivery of the NDDA.

Key duties include:

  • working with the Project Delivery Board and project teams to define and implement appropriate governance and administration frameworks for the NDDA program
  • creating methods for effective planning, monitoring, and delivery of the NDDA program
  • supporting the Project Delivery Board and project teams in defining the scope of the NDDA Program
  • managing engagement with Digital Transformation Agency assurance processes, oversight and reporting
  • identifying dependencies between NDDA projects and other Commonwealth programs and projects (e.g., Australia's Disability Strategy, Closing the Gap, National Disability Research Partnership)
  • providing an ongoing assessment of the NDDA program against its overall objectives
  • reporting progress of the NDDA program to Executive Management Group and project governance fora

providing strategic advice to the Project Delivery Board.
