Our Client is seeking to engage a Production Manager on a PERMANENT Employment.

Position Overview

Our client is an Australian, family owned metal recycling and railway services provider with facilities in Canberra and Barmedman.
We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for an experienced, hands-on Production Manager who is able to provide direction, instruction and guidance to a team of hard-working individuals based at our Canberra site. Our Canberra business is a large-scale processor and exporter of recyclable metal. Each week we load and dispatch up to 50 shipping containers of metal to our SE Asian steel mill customers. We operate a number of complex metal cutting and compressing machines, with a site staff team of 15 people plus a number of contractors. It is a very busy operation, with many large mobile machines and hundreds of heavy truck movements each week. The successful applicant will oversee all of these operations, supported by our management and administration teams.

  • Planning, prioritising and delegating work
  • Demonstrate and provide sound leadership
  • Motivate and lead by example
  • Managing the day to day operations
  • Conducting and recording Team Tool Box meetings
  • Identifying and addressing training needs including multiskilling
  • Input on production methods to maximise productivity
  • Promote and adhere to the companies policies and procedures
  • Manage safety expectations

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role essential
  • Experience within a recycling or production environment
  • Computer literate
  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to multi task and adapt to change quickly
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passionate and enthusiastic with a positive leadership style approach
  • A respectful, honest and fair disposition
  • Confident, personable and empathetic
