Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Procurement Manager on a contract until December 2020, with potential extension.

Position Overview

Our Client is seeking energetic and highly organised Procurement Managers to join the team. You will be responsible for providing detailed technical, professional, and/or policy advice in relation to complex problems and may assist in strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. The role may involve management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows. Occasional travel will be required to office locations to meet with various teams across the organisation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing expertise and technical knowledge across a range of programs or activities for the agency.
  • Providing supervisory and leadership to team members
  • Providing accurate and specialised advice including anticipating problems and contributing to issues management
  • Ensuring knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and guidelines and regulations
  • Setting priorities for the work area, maintaining team cohesion, and ensuring quality of outputs for the work area
  • Contributing to the development of team objectives for short term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiatives
  • Proposing and facilitating process improvement strategies to workplace practices.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of risk management and risk assessment activities within sphere of responsibility; and
  • Other duties as directed.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Our ideal candidate must have knowledge of end-to-end procurement activities, including familiarity with purchasing systems and processes.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the role and functions of the agency and an understanding of how these relate to a work area.
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be highly regarded.
  • Certificate IV in Government Procurement and Contracts, or similar.
