Our client is seeking to engage a Procurement Category Manager on a contract for 10 months.

Position Overview

The Procurement Category Manger is responsible for working with the relevant business partners and other key stakeholders to develop, implement and manage category, contract and supplier strategies that deliver sustained value providing with a competitive advantage, and are aligned with the strategic Procurement Portfolio Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation and management of Category Management plans in collaboration with the relevant business partners and other stakeholders
  • Understand, own and contribute to medium to long range business partners' plans (3yrs+) to ensure alignment of the category, contract and supplier strategies.
  • Lead strategic procurement initiatives, including the solicitation of quotations and proposals, for assigned categories to deliver value to the business
  • Work with business partners to reduce demand activity, complexity, immediacy and variability for the assigned categories.
  • Reduce the total cost of ownership for goods and services in the assigned categories.
  • Lead evaluation processes of sourcing activities to determine optimal supply sources
  • Draft, negotiate and implement contractual agreements
  • Conduct analysis of spend and supply markets to identify new opportunities to save money, innovate, improve service and reduce risk.
  • Lead contract administration and management activities such as preparing contract notices, variations and reviewing claims
  • Oversee supplier performance, gain feedback from internal users and business partners on supplier performance
  • Conduct quarterly/bi‐annual/annual reviews
  • Oversee supplier performance, extract and report on key Metrics
  • Conduct reporting on supplier compliance and identify supplier risks

Skills and Experience:

  • Essential: Bachelor's degree in business, legal, economics, finance, or related discipline
  • Desirable: Procurement professional certification (e.g. CIPS), MBA
  • Essential: Procurement Category Manager or equivalent role, negotiated and managed categories and contracts of significant importance
  • Desirable: Facilities Maintenance, Construction, Environmental Works
  • Essential: Knowledge of procurement fundamentals, sourcing and negotiations, contract implementation and management, excellent stakeholder management skills, excellent data analysis and Excel skills
  • Desirable: Project Management skills, SAP ERP Skills, Change management skills
