Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Procurement and Contract Manager on an initial contract of 6 Months, with 18 months of Potential extensions.

WORK LOCATION - Canberra ACT

Key Responsibilities :
The Procurement and Contracts Manager is responsible for undertaking very complex and/or sensitive work, under broad direction, utilising expertise across all areas of procurement and contract management, including liaising with both internal and external stakeholders. The role is also responsible for ensuring governance processes are implemented, along with tight scheduling, procurement, contract, risk and quality management processes. Key position responsibilities:

  • Provide advice, guidance and assistance of a very complex and/or sensitive nature on all aspects of procurement and contracts management to ensure compliance with the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework, including the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (Cth) and associated policies and rules (the Framework).
  • Provide analysis and judgement on complex issues and make significant contributions to the preparation, evaluation and finalisation of procurement processes undertaken by the Program.
  • Provide advice, guidance and quality assurance on all aspects of contract management activities, including engagement, risk and mitigation strategies.
  • May be required to supervise a team to ensure high quality outputs, including the development of team members at lower classifications, building team capacity and encouraging career development.
  • Provide high quality and timely advice internally and externally, including guidance and reporting to the Senior Responsible Officer and the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Communicate using professional judgement, evaluating risks and in the context of a complex and changing environment.
  • Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed by the Program Manager from time to time.


    Selection Criteria:
    Demonstrated experience in conducting major procurements in line with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
    Proven ability to successfully manage and provide advice on procurement activities and multiple contractual arrangements of high value and/or risk.
    Expert knowledge and experience in successfully managing risk and delivering value for money procurement results within time restraints and with competing priorities.
    Proven ability to communicate with influence, negotiate outcomes and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
    Demonstrated personal drive and integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and budget parameters.

    Desirable criteria
    Relevant qualifications and / or industry certification. For example, Diploma of Government and/or Certificate IV in Government (Procurement and Contracting) or equivalent.
    Understanding of the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework.


    Due to nature of work , candidate for this position is required to be an Australian citizen with Baseline Security Clearance .
