Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Policy Officer on a contract until June 2021.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking candidates who can represent Australia's interests in wildlife, biodiversity and biosecurity matters at international fora and meet obligations under international environmental agreements.

This job involves working in teams, under supervision, focused on a range of priorities including program and policy advice and design, program design, liaising with stakeholders within and external to government, and monitoring and reporting on program and project outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • research and analysis and translating complex information into plain English
  • coordination of input (from across the department) to policy papers and other documents
  • providing secretariat services and support, including drafting meeting papers and leading meeting logistics
  • working collaboratively in a team setting, often in fast-paced and evolving policy and program environments
  • managing contracts and procurements, including monitoring and reporting on progress and outcomes
  • engaging professionally with key stakeholders (both within and external to Government).

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have (or be able to obtain and maintain) a Baseline clearance.
  • Background, experience or tertiary qualifications in environmental science or environmental management - highly desirable
