The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity within a well-established NSW State Government Department to join as a Policy Manager. In this position we are looking for someone with the specialist knowledge and drive to be the organisational Policy Manager. As a Policy Managers are responsible for developing and implementing complex policies which are aligned to Government and Agency strategic policies. Policy Managers at this level would be required to undertake a range of policy activities, which may include:


  • implementing large scale programs working closely with IT.
  • developing robust and evidence-based rationale to support development of and changes to policy.
  • undertaking high level policy research and analysis from multiple sources, identifying trends to develop policy solutions.
  • determining appropriate policy development methodology to guide consultation and policy development.
  • evaluating costs, benefits, risks, and opportunities associated with policy options to recommend suitable solutions.
  • dead the development of briefings and submissions on policy matters.
  • design and review policy frameworks in new or complex.
  • policy areas requiring detailed analysis and coordination across agencies.
  • respond to complex and sensitive requests for policy advice.

    About You
  • Have the ability to analyse and interpret policy performance indicators in complex areas of policy to evaluate policy effectiveness and make recommendations for ongoing improvement.
  • Experience within a Government department is desired.
  • Strategic thinking and conceptual skills.
  • Qualifications and/or extensive experience in policy, program management, contract management, business, law, or related fields
  • High levels of interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to ensure deliverables contribute to achieving a large-scale reform

    Please note that this position is currently remote based working but you will be required to work in the Sydney Surry Hills office full time when appropriate.
