The Role

Our client is a large organisation with a well-established, commercial brand. They are seeking a Payroll Specialist with demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing efficiencies in payroll processing and systems. This is a permanent fulltime position based on the Sunshine Coast. Reporting to the Payroll & Finance Transformation Manager, the Payroll Specialist will be a key contributor to the overall strategy of payroll transformation with a focus on continuous improvement.

The Responsibilities

  • Delivery of program of works: Support the payroll team in design, implementation and execution of process and system activities and continuous improvement for payroll related systems and functions
  • Undertaking payroll analysis and specialist activities as required
  • Contribute to identifying efficiencies in payroll processing and systems, highlighting risks and proposing risk mitigation strategies as they are identified
  • Existing and New Payroll Related Systems & Integration: Support the overall payroll team via partnering with Payroll HR, IT & Operations so to align, design and implement more sophisticated systems, including but not limited to HR platforms /Rosters/ Leave Management/ Payroll system/ Time & attendances/ Electronic documentation
  • Supporting operational aspects of end to end payroll activities as required e.g. assisting in the processing or review of fortnightly payroll
  • Maintaining a working knowledge across the changing landscape internally and externally and aligning practice as appropriate.
  • Ensuring payroll governance is still retained through contributing to general testing and control tests in relation to risk and compliance management within the team.

Skills & Experience

To be considered for these pivotal roles, you will possess the following:

  • Either Accounting, Finance, Business and/or payroll qualification
  • Payroll Experience: 5 + years
  • A strong understanding of systems with demonstrated experience in system implementation and process improvement
  • Previous payroll compliance exposure and experience
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant Industrial Acts, Superannuation Guarantee Legislation, Awards and Agreements & Australian tax legislation
