Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS4/5 Parliamentary Officer on a contract for 9 months with potential extension of 12 months.

Position Overview

Parliamentary Officers perform a critical role providing high quality customer service to the ABS Executive, Minister's Offices and internal stakeholders. Parliamentary Officers are responsible in the management of parliamentary workflow including quality checking and transmission of ministerial correspondence, submissions, briefs and Parliamentary documents.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage workflow of Ministerial Briefings, Correspondence and QTBs through the team inboxes for the WDB and Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS)
  • Provide effective and responsive Helpdesk support on ministerial and parliamentary processes and systems
  • Create Parliamentary Document Records (PDR) in PDMS, register correspondence in PDMS and allocate to business areas
  • Assist the team in actioning general requests received through the team mailboxes and ABS services requests, including coordination tasks and requests for information and advice
  • Tracking progress of briefs and ministerial correspondence
  • Process internal and external referrals
  • General administration such as setting up meetings, agenda's, minutes and tracking of tasks
  • Provide administrative support for Senate Estimates preparation
  • The occupant of the role may also be required to assist other teams with urgent work, under supervision.

Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge and ability to use Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of the Parliamentary Document Management System, or an ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the system.
  • Lotus Notes Workgroup Database administration skills, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the system
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in journalism, communication, marketing or related fields, or be able to demonstrate recognised skills or relevant experience

Mandatory Requirements:
