Parks Technical Officer

The individual will be required on a full time basis, working thirty eight (38) hours a week (Hours of work between 8.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday). The tenure will commence as soon as possible and go through to Wednesday, 30 June 2021.

Position objectives

Progress delivery of Parks projects, including but not limited to:

  • Playground projects, park upgrades and outdoor exercise equipment
  • Road fencing
  • Park landscaping and streetscape landscaping (including design elements for both)
  • Park Softfall renewal and furniture renewal
  • Oversee playground maintenance and repairs
  • $49.00 per hour plus super

Skill Set required

Essential:

  • Experience with the delivery of projects including landscaping, playgrounds and/or irrigation.
  • Understanding of procurement practices (and policies), particularly in a government environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and administrative skills, ensuring that accurate records are maintained for project documentation at all times.
  • Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and management.
  • Solid understanding of OSH and its application to projects in public environment.
  • Excellent engagement skills, ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative manner.
  • Possession of a current motor vehicle driver's licence.
  • Possession of, or the ability to acquire, a satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last twelve months).

Desirable:

  • Previous experience with project delivery in a local government environment.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies such as PMBOK and/or Prince2.
  • Experience with landscape design.
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards for park and streetscape infrastructure
  • The successful candidate will need to provide a current motor vehicle driver's licence (with a safe driving record) and a satisfactory National Police Clearance dated within the last twelve months. Company pool cars will be available for travel required for role.
