Job Title: Outreach Program Coordinator - Veterans Support - 12-month contract

Rate: Up to $65 per hour excluding super

About the role:
An unparalleled opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to help shape and lead an engagement and support strategy for a Federal Government department that makes genuine positive impacts in the lives of veterans and their families. The position entails working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance the Department's ability to identify and respond to the needs of vulnerable and at-risk veterans, current and former defence force members and/or their families.

Key Duties:

  • Direct provision of high quality clinical services including initial intake, assessment and referral, evidence based counselling, case management and case coordination
  • Forming partnerships with DVA, the ADF and other government departments, ex-service organisations, community health and welfare agencies
  • Participation in ongoing learning and development activities and maintenance of professional status
  • Participation in community development and service promotion activities
  • Participation in Open Arms program evaluation and research activities, contributing to project management activities that implement strategic directions and quality improvement recommendations, and providing feedback for the ongoing development of clinical policy and procedures
  • Applying the principles of cooperative and safe work practices consistent with APS Values and the Department's mission, vision, approach and values

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualifications must be that of a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, or Nurse with mental health experience.
  • Qualified Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Nurses must have current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA).
  • Mental health accredited Social Workers must be registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance held and maintained while employed
