Chandler Macleod have an upcoming temporary 6-12 month assignment (possible 6 month extension) with our client within the electrical industry for a Network Planning Engineer. This assignment is conveniently located in the Keswick and on a Monday to Friday roster, full time hours with possible overtime.

The Network Planning Engineer will assist with the analysis and development of solutions in response to all customer connection enquiries (power system modelling) for both generation and load to ensure adequate network capacity, quality and reliability of supply to meet customer and business needs. This includes providing engineering advice/report and assist in the technical negotiation with proponents on the connection requirements for generators and load.

Key Objectives

  • Power System Analysis - Responsible (depending on skills and knowledge) for providing the engineering and network impact assessment including all necessary modelling, for proposed new or modified network connections for both load and generation applications.
  • Engineering Solutions - Responsible (depending on skills and knowledge) for the analysis and development of engineering and innovative solutions to overcome network constraints, in order to provision a network connection that meets the customer requirements whilst avoiding adverse impact on other network customers.
  • Regulatory Standards and Compliance - Assist (depending on skills and knowledge) in development of guidelines and standards for developing the Network to minimise operational and capital costs. Ensure that customer acceptable quality and reliability standards are met or exceeded in a commercially focused business manner. Assist in the engineering connection assessment process to ensure compliance with all necessary industry standards and regulations, including those specified by AEMO.
  • Customer Advisory and Negotiation - To provide engineering advice and assist in the technical negotiation with proponents on the connection requirements for generators and load, in order to deliver optimal community and business outcomes.
  • Project Management - Manage projects on time, budget and quality (depending on skills and knowledge).

    Relevant experience (if any): power system modelling (PSSE, SINCAL, etc) and analysis, generation connection experiences (Solar PV, batteries, etc) including commissioning.

  • Engineering degree
  • Good command of written and verbal English, IT macro programming in Word & Excel
  • Understands the impact of Distributed Energy resources (DER) to the network and industry
