About the Position:

The Network Operations Team within Water and Waste are responsible for monitoring, controlling, and operating the water, sewerage, and recycled water networks on the Gold Coast. The operational data captured from 540 sewerage pump stations, 58 Reservoirs, 57 water pump stations, control valves, chemical dosing stations, and recycled water pump stations are monitored and analysed. This ensures water supply and quality are maintained and environmental impacts in the sewer network are managed.

The position is responsible for leading the monitoring and analytic aspects in continual improvements of all sewerage, water, and recycled water networks' operability. Data is captured by a City-wide SCADA system and then stored in a Data Historian. Water and Waste engage 3rd party entities to analyse operational data for non-revenue water and environmental purposes.

Reporting to the position are two Network Monitoring Officers and the position will also liaise with Supervisors responsible for a 24/7 Operation Centre, Water, Sewer, and Recycled Water operational teams.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Ensure WH&S, Environmental, and Water Quality obligations are met and incorporated into data improvement programs.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure continual monitoring and analytic improvements align with City's strategies.
  • Delivering improved analytical tools to the 24/7 Operation Centre.
  • Provide high-level triage advice to the 24/7 Operation Centre.
  • Leading the environmental overflow prevention and reporting program.
  • Governance of all operational data and creating a single repository of data.
  • Point of contact for third-party entities using the City's operational data for analytic purposes.
  • Subject matter expert in high-level 3rd party analytic tools.
  • Degree or equivalent
  • Prior Experience in process environments, within Water and Sewerage, is highly regarded
  • Strong ability to initiate, develop and implement improvement strategy initiatives
  • A sound understanding of asset management principles
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Experience in a broad range of communications/IT systems
